SCENTSATIONAL: SPRING 2023 FRAGRANCE TRENDS TO KNOW

By: Kristen Jorgensen, Co Chic Boutique

Spring is well underway, so it's the perfect time to switch up your fragrance wardrobe too!

Finding a perfume isn't always easy, so we have done some research and discovered the big fragrance trends for spring to give you a starting point. We know sometimes it you may feel like Goldilocks when it comes to picking a new signature scent. One might be too fruity. One might not be musky enough. One might have an overwhelming mix of notes you've never heard before. But in the end, there is always one that will fit you just right.

In fact, that perfect scent might be something you already know and love, just with a slight twist, like Tom Ford Electric Cherry or Ellis Brooklyn Florist.

To help you narrow down some of your options and make it less overwhelming, we've pulled the best perfumes of the spring so far, including picks from new brands like Kayali, Tom Ford and Kai. You can thank us later.

SPRING FRAGRANCE TREND #1: Kayali
Spring is often the time when we switch to lighter, fresher scents, but for spring 2023 anything goes, including power perfumes. We're talking big scents that are unashamedly bold. Kayali is our go-to for rich, showstopping fragrances. Our favorite for this time of year is Invite Only Amber | 23 is an irresistible juice that envelops you in sultry amber resin and Madagascan vanilla mixed with Black Cherry, Honey de Provence and Tobacco Leaf. Touches of rose and citrus leaf soften the scent. It's super long-lasting and totally captivating.
SPRING FRAGRANCE TREND #2: Ellis Brooklyn's Florist
There's technically no need to reinvent the wheel, but isn't it fun when someone does? Ellis Brooklyn's Florist is a spring floral (groundbreaking, we know) featuring some classic blooming notes — tuberose, gardenia, and jasmine — that are elevated by bright citrus punches and grounded by an earthy sandalwood and cedar base. Honeysuckle fans, this Eau de parfum's for you.

SPRING FRAGRANCE TREND #3: Tom Ford's Lost Cherry
Tom Ford's Lost Cherry has been around and loved for quite some time, but the scent's new iteration, Electric Cherry, is the exact jolt of energy this gourmand fragrance needed. It contains a playful blend of Morello cherry, zingy ginger, warm musk, and a hint of jasmine. This fragrance screams fresh fruit on a summer day or a simple, sweet cherry pie. Just sit back and wait for the compliments to roll in.
SPRING FRAGRANCE TREND #4: Kai
Florals for spring — though hardly groundbreaking, the concept is cliché for good reason: The lightweight, whimsical nature of fresh blooms make them perfect for warm-weather wear. As it pertains to fragrance, few florals are as universally beloved as Kai's signature scent. The brand, which launched in 1999, has amassed an impressive fanbase, with Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, and Jennifer Aniston among its many celebrity devotees.  Notes of gardenia, among other delicate white florals, give Kai’s fragrance a fresh, clean finish that flatters any wearer. In addition to the traditional, spritzable eau de parfum, Kai’s fragrance also comes in an ultra-convenient rollerball format: the Kai Perfume Oil. SPRING FRAGRANCE TREND #4: Diptyque's L'Eau Papier Eau de Toilette
If you've ever wanted to channel the intoxicating aroma of a used bookstore and wear it on your skin, run to the (digital) perfumery ASAP. Diptyque's L'Eau Papier Eau de Toilette is a fairly simple fragrance — a combination of white musk, mimosa flower, and sesame — but this adaptable fragrance transforms once it dries down and smells a little bit different on everyone. Think ink, well-loved pages, and worn-in reading chairs, but it's all mystery and not at all musty.
